Station at Northampton Ma.

The raised Amtrak platform, January 26, 2018.
Today there will be two posts as I am away tomorrow...watch for another post later today.

On my Springfield trip I headed up to East Deerfield for a visit. On the way back I decided to stop and check out the newer stop location for the Vermonter at Northampton, Ma. On the old route Amherst was the regular stop. Northampton which is actually pretty close to Amherst, just a short drive across the river still gives passengers from the area access to Amtrak service. This location has a newer raised platform with the old station just to the north used as a restaurant...George Dutka

A look at the platform from the parking area.
The original Union Station in Northampton is an impressive size structure that appears in very good shape. There is a bike trail which runs along the west side of the structure giving one a great place to view the structure.
Most of the old platform is now enclosed.
The south side of the station. I would have never thought this location would require such a large station back in the day to service this area.
